About us

Our primary aim is to deliver CO2 reductions for your whole project. It is often more cost effective to design the most efficient building possible and therefore reduce the need for renewable energy heating requirements. The aim of delivering the most energy efficient house should be at the heart of all projects and should include embodied energy as well as energy in use.

Current legislation and energy models forces decision making in a particular direction: it does not always influence the right technical solution nor reflect the accurate performance of the equipment or building materials. Our goal is to provide practical advice that reflects the likely performance of technology selected. This is supported by broad engineering experience, which enables us to effectively  evaluate the latest technologies.

How do we differ?

Our mission is to simplify the decision making process of designing the right energy strategy to meet the site requirements, client aspirations, legislation and budget constraints. ‘We aim to help you make decisions based on fact.’

Our independent flexible approach is based on not being tied to any particular suppliers or technology and being a small company we can adapt our services easily. We can tailor a technical support package to suit your project.

Leading Energy Experience

My name is Cathie Eberlin and I set up Leading Energy over two years ago with the objective of providing renewable energy advice to help people to design and deliver buildings with lower carbon emissions.

I am a Chartered engineer with the Institute of Mechanical engineers: I hold a BSC(Eng) from Imperial College and developed my career in engineering with ICI plc holding senior design and plant engineering roles before moving overseas to work in smaller manufacturing companies in technical product management and marketing. I completed a marketing diploma overseas and have developed my interest in renewable energy on returning to the UK. I worked in project and design roles for renewable energy installers before setting up Leading Energy.

I have completed a variety of training courses in all the renewable technologies and use energy assessment tools such as RETscreen, PVsol, TSOL , SAP, SBEM and IES to deliver the most appropriate analysis. I am a registered code assessor with BRE.

Insight

My engineering experience enables me to deliver analytical assessments of renewable energy options and energy auditing. I have a unique combination of hands on engineering skills with consulting experience which enables me to add value to domestic or commercial design projects and also to understand the processes in energy auditing of commercial businesses and buildings.

I have extensive experience of managing and delivering projects to tight timescales and enjoy solving problems.
